Twilight Sparkle - Custom G4 My Little Pony by shearx Twilight Sparkle - Custom G4 My Little Pony by shearx
Well, she's finished.. I'm quite happy with how the mane and tail came out. The colors too. The pink was a b*tch though.. like 8 layers before it was opaque enough to not show the undercoat.

sheesh!

EDIT: changed the picture to be more in line with my current standard for posting customs.

I have a question. :3
What type/brand of clay did you use to sculpt her hair?
Where can I get some? o.o

I use Sculpey oven bake clay, which can be obtained at nearly any craft store, as well as walmart if you have one near you

Aah! Thank you very much. :3
Do you paint it (The clay), or just buy the colors and mix them? Sorry for so many questions. I'm new to pony customization and your are flawless. o.o I've done several Monster High Dolls, but only one pony custom...
Thanks again! :D

I dislike the idea of using colored clay.. too limiting as far as colors go IMO.

Good luck with you customization!

Thank you very much! :D
You have a point there... As far as acryllics go, there are tons of colors. AND you can mix them. ^.^

Thanks for the luck..I'm going to need it. X3

no. I'm working on doing something like that, but for the time being I'm just using bodies from the ponies at the store. They're just fine for what i do :)

Question. What colors do you use to get twilight's hair color?

The colors were a bit difficult to get right... the primary Colorado.is navy blue, which dries a bit darker than when its wet (as do all acrylic paints).. they stripes however took a lot of mixing of white and scarlet and even some blue I think to get just right.

In short, it took a lot of trial and error.

Thanks Shearx. I was trying to get the main color for her mane right but purple or black mixes didn't work. I'll try it out with blue then.

it definitely was the doll hair one before I got done with her.

I wouldn't have bothered if it already had molded hair :P

I really like your custom manes. Have you ever considered sculpting a whole pony?

I have, and I've tried getting started once or twice, but never actually had the desire to bake it and start sculpting.. I'll try it eventually lol.
