Princess Luna SE - Custom G4 My Little Pony by shearx Princess Luna SE - Custom G4 My Little Pony by shearx
Here is item number 1 for my art trade with :iconlykaios-avery:!

I'm so excited for this trade, I blazed through this rather difficult custom. I'm surprised myself with how quickly I was able to get it done, despite my work schedule.

There are a few things that are special about this edition of Luna.

Firstly, she has a complete sculpted necklace. Now, on a few of my other customs this has also been a feature, but on this one, since its on the smaller princess body, it was a bit more difficult.

And secondly, her cutie mark is on both sides. Normally, I only do the one side, but this time had to be an exception.

I'm so very happy with how she came out :D

Hopefully, :iconlykaios-avery: is too!

The other 2 parts of the trade will be posted as they get completed.

Commissioned by: :iconlykaios-avery:
Character: Princess Luna

What'd you use for the HAIR? it's amaaazing. So, so glitzy and sparkly and shiiinyyy.

If you make pictures of that Luna making those bedroom eyes at things by putting them at her immediate left, it could be the funniest thing on the site. Maybe an action figure of Goku all beat up and unconscious, or a sleeping cat is fine too. Maybe a hamster?

Get creative. At the very least you'll get me to guffaw.

gorgeous <3 what kind of sealer do you use? did you use some super glossy kind for her mane or is the paint that naturally shiny?
shearx Featured By Owner Jan 23, 2013  Hobbyist General Artist
I use a product called Triple Thick. Its the best gloss seal I've ever used, and will likely never switch to anything else. =X

Could you do me a favor my OC (Drawing Dye)? For such kind of order but without paying and shipping. So for you that was the pony ^ ^
shearx Featured By Owner Jan 6, 2013  Hobbyist General Artist
... huh?

if you're asking me to make your OC into a custom just so you can see it as such, I'm sorry but I can't do that. I don't really have the time or resources =/

if that's not what you meant, please rephrase the question..
DrawingDye Featured By Owner Jan 6, 2013  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
Too bad you can not. It's hard. Just wanted you to customized my OC. :(
DrawingDye Featured By Owner Jan 6, 2013  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
WoW !!! This is Amazing !!!
1. What do you use to paint it?
2. Which clay binder hair?
3. Where to buy / order a ponies?
4. What shade did you use to paint the mane?
5. How long did it take you to make this Luna?

Some questions ^^
shearx Featured By Owner Jan 6, 2013  Hobbyist General Artist
1: I use acrylic paints
2: mane/tail are made from Sculpey oven bake clay
3: see my journal for information
4: colors are a mixture of metallic sapphire blue, non-metallic navy blue, metallic silver, and non-metallic red and white (non-metallic colors help keep colors consistent, otherwise the metallic portions run and bunch up..)
5: this particular pony was made in a bit of an excited rush, taking about 10 hours total. this is NOT typical.

Some answers ^^

Thank you very much for your answers. I have one more question. How much buy clay and paint?
Lykaios-Avery Featured By Owner Jan 5, 2013  Hobbyist Artisan Crafter
She looks great! I love the expression that you gave her, and the way her hair has that sort of gradient effect from the darker to the lighter portion.

And thank you for sculpting the necklace (despite the smaller body) and putting the cutie mark on both sides. I didn't realize that you normally do it on just one side (and only recently learned that the toys only have them on one side). The first Crystal Empire episode confirmed that they have marks on both sides, unless Luna is just special in that regards (but I've always preferred my ponies to have mirrored cutie mark on each side, not sure why).

Can't wait to see the other two! (But there's no need to rush, I still have to finish my half, haha)

Super jealous. This is the kind of Luna figure there needs to be more of. If I had the big bucks, I would shell them out for this. My Hasbro NMM figure no longer seems adequate.
I love the way you did the eyes; they seem very realistic compared to eyes the stare straight ahead. Her whole expression is very coy.
Amandkyo-Su Featured By Owner Jan 4, 2013
The effect on the hair is lovely!
AleximusPrime Featured By Owner Jan 4, 2013  Hobbyist General Artist
Awesome job, it looks just like her! What kind of paint did you use for the hair?
